BOURBON – Barbara J. Patterson, 78, of Bourbon, passed away at 1:52 p.m. July 28, 2011, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Plymouth Campus.

She was born Feb. 23, 1933, in Etna Green, to Thomas and Ida Feldman Quaney. On July 3, 1963, she married John E. Patterson, who died May 11, 2008.

She spent most of her life in the Bourbon area. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Bourbon, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the Church Consistory, the Bourbon Library Board, past treasurer of Triton PTO and Triton Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels. She was a Campfire Leader for more than 32 years. She was a 1950 graduate and valedictorian of Calument High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in law at North Western University in 1954. She was an accountant and served many in her community.

Surviving are two daughters, Samantha (and spouse Charles) Howard, Silver Lake, and Sharon (and spouse Michael) Howell, Milford; and four grandchildren: Ean  and Aric Howard and Chase and Ethan Howell.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with the Rev. Linda Hewitt officiating. Burial will be in Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon.
