In his editorial of 3/9/07, Gary Gerard once again tries to come across as the conservative who will even criticize conservatives, if the offense is bad enough. One of the three things that bug him, he says, is Anne Coulter's usage of a derogatory term for gays to describe John Edwards. I agree Coulter's comment about John Edwards was wrong, as most intelligent people would. However, for Gerard to wait until this comment to criticize Coulter is ridiculous. Let's take a look at a small sampling of the Coulter quotes he didn't feel were bad enough to "bug" him:
She stated that her "only regret with (Oklahoma City Bomber) Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building." - Newsmax
To a disabled Vietnam vet: "People like you caused us to lose that war." - MSNBC
"I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote." - Hannity and Colmes 8/17/99
The "backbone of the Democratic Party" is a "typical fat, implacable welfare recipient." - syndicated column 10/29/99
"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours." - Hannity and Colmes 6/20/01
About the 9/11 widows: "These broads are millionaires, lionized on TB and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stakes by grief-arazzis. I've never seen people enjoying their husbands deaths so much." - Anne Coulter
Of course, even though Gerard initially is bugged by Coulter, he wants to make sure he is being an even-handed editorial writer and demonstrate how liberals can be just as nasty as she is. He does this by using quotation from James Carville about Kenneth Starr being like a mosquito, and even talks about Air America and Rosie O'Donnell. (I must say that I hated that stuff Rosie said about the Donald's hair, too, Gary! That is just as bad as saying it's okay to rape the earth!)
Wow, once again Gerard has done a good job of being "fair and balanced," hasn't he?
