WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – An autopsy has been performed on the human remains that were located in a field last week, but results or new information won’t be available for at least a few weeks.
Shortly after 3 p.m. April 2, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding potential human remains located on a property west of Ind. 13, south of Old 30.
Upon arrival, deputies were directed to the edge of a field several hundred yards off of the roadway, near a swamp.
Witnesses told police that they were walking in the area and happened upon the unidentified remains.
Kosciusko County Coroner Tony Ciriello said the human remains belonged to one person and that the autopsy has been completed as of Wednesday. Ciriello said further testing is being done and any new information will not be available for several weeks.
What state of decomposition the remains were in is not being released.
The incident remains under investigation by KCSO and the Coroner’s Office.
