GRESHAM, Ore. - Aurel Leonard Gunter, 77, died Dec. 14, 2007, in Boring, Ore.
He was born April 12, 1930, in Sidney, to Paul and Lura Ellen Boyer Gunter. On Nov. 9, 1957, in Elyria, Ohio, he married Marjorie Liechty, who survives.
A 1945 Sidney High School graduate, he attended Manchester College, North Manchester. In 1975, he retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 27-1/2 years, and moved to Boring, Ore. He belonged to the conservative Grace Brethren Church faith.
Also surviving are two sons, Lee Ryan Gunter, Orrville, Ohio, and James Eugene Gunter, Fairview, Ore; two daughters, Christine Kay Pitsenbarger, Wooster, Ohio, and Janette Lynne Hodgdon, Orrville; a brother, Ronald Gunter, Greenville, S.C.; and 10 grandchildren.
