Dakotah Cephus Shepherd, 25, of 1522 Brookview Avenue, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday for conspiracy to commit a level 2 felony and failure to appear, a misdemeanor. His preliminary bond amount was $25,535.

Court documents filed May 16 list the charges against Shepherd as conspiracy to dealing in methamphetamine, a level 2 felony; and theft, a Class A misdemeanor, with an enhancement to make it a level 6 felony. Shepherd was previously convicted of conversion in Kosciusko County on May 14, 2015.

On Jan. 13, Warsaw Drug Task Force conducted a purchase of methamphetamine from Shepherd, according to court documents.

A confidential informant provided Shepherd with $700 of Task Force funds for the purchase of more than 10 grams of meth. Shepherd took the money but failed to provide the methamphetamine.

The controlled purchase was captured on audio. Warsaw Drug Task Force officer Brad Kellar listened to the recording and heard Shepherd agreeing to the sale.
