Arturo “Art” Saldivar

FORT WAYNE — Arturo “Art” Saldivar Sr., 68, Pierceton, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. 

Mr. Saldivar was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Snyder, Texas, to the late Rodolfo Saldivar Sr. and Piedad Rodriguez Saldivar. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1970-71 and earned an engineering degree in electronics and robotics from ITT Technical Institute, Fort Wayne. 

He was married to Diane M. Dielmann on May 12, 1984, in Sterling, Ill. 

Art retired from Zenith Corp., Glenview, Ill., in 1998. He continued working and was employed with USSI, Columbia City, and Zimmer Biomet, Warsaw. 

He was a member and deacon of Pierceton Presbyterian Church and a member of Pierceton American Legion Post 258, AEPI fraternity of ITT and the National Honor Society.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Saldivar, Pierceton; two sons, Phillip Saldivar, Columbia City, and Arthur Carl (Leah) Saldivar Jr., Huntington; a daughter, Jennifer (Thomas Jr.) Hylton, Delphi; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Rudolph “Rudy” Saldivar Jr., Indianapolis, and Ernesto “Ernie” Saldivar, Warsaw; and three sisters: Ophelia “Micki” Schofner, Florida; Ernestina “Tina” Cantu, Sterling; and San Juanita “Jane” Saldivar, Rock Falls, Ill.

Memorial services and military honors will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Pierceton Presbyterian Church, 309 S. First St., Pierceton.

Arrangements were entrusted to Northern Indiana Funeral Care, Fort Wayne.
