Art On The Bricks Featuring Scantlin At Center For HistoryNORTH MANCHESTER – The North Manchester Center for History will have Stan Scantlin as a guest speaker on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Scantlin will be displaying his vintage 1955 Silver Cloud Rolls-Royce and describing the process used to restore it from the ground up. The program will take place outdoors, on “The Bricks” adjacent to the museum. In the event of inclement weather, the presentation will move indoors, according to a news release from the North Manchester Center for History.

Scantlin became a specialist in vintage Rolls-Royce restoration and repair after retiring from the U.S. Treasury in Washington. He developed his talent while working for the Frawley Company in Pennsylvania, a group that focused on Rolls-Royce and Bentley restorations.

After the death of the owner, Stan and his wife Nan decided to fulfill a dream of living in a turn of the century brick home and moved to North Manchester. Here he is the owner of NS Refinishing, where they restore and make custom replacements of interior woodwork for Rolls vehicles.

The move to Manchester brought them closer to Michigan where Stan grew up in Southwest Michigan. A graduate of Western Michigan University, he worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and later as an engraver for the Treasury Department. He serves as a technical advisor to the Rolls-Royce Owner’s Club, of which he has been a member for over 50 years.

The program is Thursday at the Center for History from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. In conjunction with the quarterly program featuring Stan Scantlin, there will be a reception for Ojenobo Oke’s art exhibit in the Kaleidoscope Gallery. Her show will be in place through Aug. 15.

The Center for History is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located at 122 E. Main St., North Manchester.
