WINONA LAKE – Artist Angee Walberry will be among the artists showing her work this weekend at the Art Festival at The Village at Winona.

Walberry is originally from Huntington and is setting her sights on a busy year showing modern, thoughtful and eclectic pieces she creates in her studio, 3rd Incarnation Art, in Indianapolis, according to a provided news release.

“I was a psychiatric social worker for 18 years, then started the U.S.’s first female-owned and -operated winery in Indianapolis, and now I create abstract art that I hope people find needs to be part of their life,” Walberry said.

In an interview, Nick Hauck, managing director of The Village at Winona, said this is the 22nd year for the Art Fair. The Village at Winona was started as an artisan village and he said he assumes the Art Fair was started to enhance the art culture in the community.

The fair is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be 70 artists at the Art Fair, selling art in mediums including clay, fiber, wood, painting and jewelry.

He said only a certain amount of artists in each medium are allowed each year at the fair.

If someone would like to be a vendor for the 2023 Art Fair, they can fill out an application at www.zapplication.org under The Village at Winona Art Fair. Applicants need to create an artist profile and submit the required elements. The 2023 application will open on Dec 1 at www.zapplication.org, Hauk said.

During the Art Fair, people who attend will be able to see live music. On Saturday, Scott Workman will perform from 10 to 11:15 a.m.. Wally Brath will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the Winona Acoustic Society performing from 1 to 3 p.m. and Ivory Moss performing from 3 to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, Joe Justice will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Marc Volser will perform from 2 to 4 p.m.

In addition to music, there will be kids activities, hosted by Lakeland Art Association in the Kids Tent next to Rocket Fizz and Cloud 9 Multisport. They usually do some kind of painting activity each year, Hauk said.

When asked what The Village hopes people get out of the Art Fair, Hauk said, “First off, we want guests to experience great art work from artists around the country. Second, to give a family friendly environment that brings people to The Village at Winona so they can experience everything The Village at Winona has to offer - from great restaurants and cafe’s to unique shopping experiences, to everyday activities enjoying the numerous parks, greenways, mountain bike trails and lake activities.”
