Animal Care

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I just read the front page of today's Times-Union (Tuesday, August 3), and was appalled at the article about Ms. Bell trying to lodge a complaint about the dogs which were tied up without food and water while their owners were on vacation. If "investigating animal abuse claims does not fall under animal control officer Jerry Clase's job description", what good does it do to have him? It seems to me that preventing the abuse would be better than waiting until an animal dies and then calling him to pick it up.

And I have read and re-read her comments about what Commissioner Bob Conley told her when she contacted him about the situation. I hope that his comments were taken out of context and he didn't really say those things. How heartless can a person be? I wonder if Mr. Conley would like to be chained up for a few days without food and water and see if that would change his mind. After all, according to his way of thinking, people don't need to eat every day. I personally believe that dogs do have souls, and they will go to heaven when they die. They will probably get there before Mr. Conley does!

I don't remember if he is running for re-election this year, but if he is, I certainly hope he is not elected. We don't need his kind running our county.
