The Salvation Army served families through Christmas Eve with its Angel Tree program and ended up assisting 140 families.
A total of 289 children age 12 and under were given a gift, book and hat and gloves, according to Envoy Ken Locke, Corps Administrator. There were 60 teens given gift cards from The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.
The children were "adopted" by individuals from the following businesses, churches and families: DePuy, Medtronic, Warsaw Kiwanis Club, First United Methodist Church, Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Alderfer Bergen & Co., McDonald & Blakely Family, Zimmer, Trinity United Methodist Church, Leader's Staffing, Lutheran Health Heart, Circle M Spring, Winona Lake Free Methodist Church, Dental Solutions and Cardinal Center Inc.
2019 marked the 31st annual Angel Tree outreach that coordinates with other agencies in the county to reduce duplication of services.
