Recently, there was a letter to the editor from me about disappointing service I received from our sheriff's department. Although the letter and my opinion was needed and 100 percent accurate when it came to describing the facts of the case, it was unjust in describing our sheriff, Rocky Goshert.
You see, the day my letter was published, Rocky came to see me to apologize and make amends for the comedy of errors made by the department and to pay the storage bill I was responsible for. What needs to be said after this meeting with our sheriff is this: I am confident changes in policies and procedures are in place now so this can't and won't happen to anyone else. From a man in Rocky's position to admit that it was handled improperly, took guts.
As for Sheriff Goshert and 1 having the same qualities, I was dead wrong and I apologize. He is neither arrogant, ignorant nor is he repulsive. I found him very professional, concerned, caring ... unlike myself.
I feel much better about our sheriff's department after talking to Rocky. I'm confident with the changes in place that he shared with me. We are in good, confident and caring hands.
Sheriff Goshert, it has been a pleasure to meet you and good luck with your changes.
I did forget to ask him if he likes donuts. I don't. Just ask the girls at Betty's Cake Shop, I prefer cookies. Rocky, call me anytime, the cookies are on me. As for picking up the tab for storage, thank you. I will make sure that money goes back to a worthy cause in our county.
