Alfred J. Engelberth, 79, of Warsaw, died at 1:50 a.m. Sept. 28, 2011, in his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born Jan. 21, 1932, in Hammond, to Henry and Elizabeth Kaiser Engelberth. On June 9, 1957, in Warsaw, he married Janice L. Cozzi, who survives.

Living most of his life in Kosciusko County, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as an MP during the Korean War. He was a dairy and grain farmer and sold seed for Golden Harvest. He was a 1950 graduate of North Webster High School. He was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church, Warsaw, where he was a deacon; Gideons International; was on the board of Riverwood Ranch, Warsaw; and the Praisegiving Quartet.

Also surviving are three daughters: Debra Pressler, Goshen; Linda (and spouse Gary) Mast, Warsaw; and Dawn (and spouse Jeremy) Doty, Atwood; a son, David (and spouse Sandra) Engelberth, Warsaw; a sister, Dorothy (and spouse Dale) Hostetler, Yakima, Wash.; three brothers, William (and spouse Loraine) Engelberth and Ernest (and spouse Norma) Engelberth, all of Pierceton, and Otto (and spouse Mary) Engelberth, Essex Junction, Vt.; and six grandchildren:  Marcus, Travis, Alex, Ryan, Jason and Lea. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Ted, Paul and Henry Engelberth.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dutchtown Brethren Church, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Jack Worth of Dutchtown Brethren Church, and Pastor Tim Sollenberger-Morphew of Bethany Church of the Brethren, New Paris. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
