NORTH MANCHESTER - Alene J. Abbott, 86, of Urbana, died at 1:25 p.m. Oct. 28, 2007, in Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center, LaFontaine.
She was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Silver Lake, to Charles Ray and Elta Mae Cauffman Brandenburg. On Aug. 12, 1949, she married Robert Glenn Abbott, who died Oct. 17, 2005.
She was a homemaker and co-owned Abbott's Orchard at rural Urbana, for 55 years. She was a Sidney High School graduate.
Surviving are four sons: Dean Abbott, North Manchester; Carl Abbott, Columbia City; Ronald Abbott, Logansport; and Randall Abbott, Urbana; a brother, Frank Brandenburg, Wabash; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Doris) Ebbinghouse, North Manchester, and Juna Bradenburg, Kokomo; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Melissa Rice officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
