\Alberta Rose Keene, 61, of 3872 N. CR 650E, Rochester, passed away at 2 a.m. Sept. 4, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 6, 1948, in Fulton County, to Albert and Rose Doyle McCloughan. On Feb. 3, 1968, in Tippecanoe, she married Robert H. Keene, who survives.
She was a lifetime resident of Fulton County and was the office manager for Morgan Chiropractic of Akron.
As a proud Flyer, she graduated as a member the class of 1966 from Akron High School. She took great joy with the sport of roller skating. She and brother John took to the area rinks competing in the skate dance routines. Her favorite rink was Rock Lake, east of Akron, where she was a member of the Rockettes.
Alberta was united in marriage to her best friend and love of her life, Robert H. Keene. Their 41-year marriage yielded two children, Jackie and Randy. Over the years two grandchildren, Jamison and Jazzden, have been added to the family tree.
Over the years Alberta grew bountiful vegetable and beautiful flower gardens around their family home. She canned and froze the harvest for the family's use during the winter. She appreciated the wildlife of her back yard and fed the birds year round. Among her favorite visitors was the humming bird.
A favorite location of relaxation was the area moto-cross tracks. She organized the tailgate parties and was designated as number one cheerleader of the family's drivers, husband Bob and son Randy, and most recently daughter-in-law Sarah. On occasion she was known to critique the driving of Bob.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jackie (and spouse Mark) Wyatt, Warsaw; a son, Randy (and spouse Sarah) Keene, Waterloo; two grandchildren, Jamison and Jazzden; two sisters, Gloria Reed, Akron, and Sara Hoppus, Mentone; a brother, John (and spouse Bonnie) McCloughan, Greensburg, Ky.; mother-in-law, Delia Keene, Tippecanoe; and nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Glen Keene, and an infant granddaughter, Sidney Wyatt.
A private family service will be Tuesday. Burial will be in the Tippecanoe Cemetery.
