SYRACUSE – Alan R. Schlagenhauf, 57, of Leesburg, lost his battle to cancer at 11:42 p.m. on Monday, Aug, 19, 2019, at his home.
He was born on June 13, 1962, in Decatur, to Phillip Bruce and E. Naoma Rutledge Schlagenhauf.
He attended Wawasee High School in Syracuse, graduated from South Adams High School in Berne and attended Huntington College in Huntington.
He was married on Jan. 22, 1983, in Huntington, to Elizabeth A. “Lisa” Landon, who survives, and moved to North Webster area from Huntington. He was formerly employed at Chore Time Brock in Milford for 17 years, Ron Shortt Pest Control in Leesburg and was the former owner/operator of Alan’s Bait and Tackle in North Webster.
He was an avid softball player, enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and was always the life of the party. He was a Syracuse Little League coach and loved spending time with his grandsons, which were the light of his life.
He is survived by wife, Lisa Schlagenhauf, of Leesburg; daughter, Kylee (Kenny) Eaton, of Syracuse; two grandsons, Braxton and Kolton; mother, Naoma Schlagenhauf, of Leesburg; two sisters, Fay (Dan) Schwartz, of Middlebury, and Dianne (John) Givens, of Madison, Wis.; two brothers, Phillip Mark (Linda) Schlagenhauf, of Decatur, Ala., and Doug Edgar, of Wren, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Joshua Alan Schlagenhauf.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 in the funeral home with Justin Landon, minister at the Community Life Center Church in Warsaw, officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw, Ind.
