Al-Qaeda

Editor, Times-Union:
Nearly a month after Al-Qaeda launches attacks on four U.S. embassies, Obama thumps his chest, at a fundraiser in San Francisco, and declares once again: “Al-Qaeda is on its’ heels, and Bin Laden is no more.” It is a most concerning punctuation mark to  a long-running narrative, exposing a president in denial regarding his own performance, and an escalating threat of terror, nuclear war and radical Islam.

Islamic Jihad, holy war, and attacks on American targets are never spontaneous reactions to various provocations, real or imagined, by the West or any other outside power. If we think that specific western actions (such as an amateur film) may add to Islamic rage, it is only because we are naive to the origin and fullness of the rage that already exists, at all times, toward the “infidels” who they believe they are divinely commissioned to kill. A leader, naïve to this, will continue useless negotiations, apologies and “diplomacy” that only embolden our enemies and leave, not only embassies, but entire nations at risk.

It has never been more clear, what we should all do Nov. 6.
