Akron Woman Hurt In Elkhart Co. Crash

WAKARUSA – An Akron woman was injured during a two-vehicle accident Thursday in Elkhart County, 4 miles east of Wakarusa.

According to an accident report from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, a 2008 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Robert Mason, 91, Elkhart, was stopped at the intersection of CR 13 and Ind. 119, waiting to proceed south on CR 13. A 2008 Ford Edge, driven by David Sterk, 61, Akron, was going southeast on Ind. 119 approaching CR 13.

According to the report, Mason did not see any traffic from either direction on Ind. 119 and proceeded into the intersection. Sterk could not stop and collided with the rear driver’s side of Mason’s vehicle.

A passenger in Sterk’s vehicle, Penny Sterk, 52, Akron, complained of pain to the left foot and was taken to Goshen Hospital.
