Akron Library Announces Reading Program

Posted
AKRON – The Akron Public Library announced their 2023 Summer Reading Program All Together Now.  This year, the library is again offering two separate programs beginning June 5 and continuing through July 21. The children’s program is for ages 3 through fifth grade and the teen program is reserved for sixth grade and up. Both programs offer prizes and incentives for reading books.

Some of the children’s program will include a visit from Silly Safaris, a foam party and a new StoryWalk® experience, all at Pike Memorial Park; as well as weekly crafts/activities for the kids.

Teen readers will receive scratch-off tickets for every three books that they read to win prizes.  They also have the opportunity to attend craft classes where they will make a Butterfly Flutter Flyer, a 4th of July Tie Dye Project and Wood Plank Light.

All Summer Reading Program participants and their families are invited to attend the SRP BBQ and Games finale on July 24 from 4 until 6 p.m.

Stop in the library to pre-register starting May 15 and sign up for activities and crafts.  Pre-registration can also be done at  https://www.akron.lib.in.us.  Most of the programs require that you sign up for a time slot in order to attend and a special parental waiver must be signed in order to attend the foam party.  Individuals must be enrolled in the Akron Public Library’s Summer Reading program to be eligible for prizes and to attend event programming.
