I have been following the proposed closing of CR 100 E with great interest.
I would like to voice a couple of options that people may find to be too far out on the financing scale, but when you are thinking "future" why not dream a little bigger.
My suggestion is for Warsaw to become a real Regional Airport where we can book a flight starting in Warsaw, and fly to a bigger airport such as Indianapolis or Chicago for a connecting flight to our final destination.
Is our current airport setup ready for this kind of expansion and everything that goes with it?
I am not sure about who owns the properties north of Warsaw starting north of CR 400N all the way to the Clunette Road in Leesburg, but if the woods were cleared out, that would be a really large stretch for a new Regional Airport to be constructed and all that is needed for it.
The current airport land could be sold and utilized as an indoor shopping mall and bring other new business to Warsaw, as well as jobs. We can even call it Dellview Mall.
I know this is a difficult situation, and I hope that these corporations that are pushing for this move will consider "win-win" solutions for everyone.
