PIERCETON — Ada Jean Finken, 91, Pierceton, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Feb. 4, 2017, in Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
On May 7, 1925, she was born in Fort Wayne to Thurman and Nellie Birtwhistle Busz. She was united in marriage to Carl L. Finken on Nov. 4, 1947, in Orchard Park, N.Y. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1986.
Living most of her life in Pierceton, she was a homemaker who loved to sew. She graduated from Pierceton High School in 1944. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the North Webster American Legion. Her kids and grandkids were her life.
She is survived by four daughters: Janet (spouse Chester) Goodman, Pierceton; Brenda (spouse David) Ott, Estero, Fla.; Shirley Finken, Warsaw; and Gayle Ewing (companion Jon Ormsby), Pierceton; and three sons: Carl Lee (spouse Deb) Finken, Pierceton; John (spouse Pami) Finken, Winona Lake; and Mark Finken, Chapman Lake. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded by her parents; two daughters, Paula and Maryann Finken; a grandson, Chad Goodman; two sisters, Lois Sleighter and Mary Maxine Sleighter; and five brothers: Thurman Busz Jr., Aldred Busz, Darwin Busz Sr., Norman Busz and James Busz.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Lew Collier officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton. A funeral dinner provided by American Legion Post 258, Pierceton, will follow the burial.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
