BOURBON - Ada E. Babcock, 91, of Bourbon, peacefully passed away May 16, 2010, in the care of her daughter and family in her daughter's residence in Bourbon.
She was born July 16, 1918, in rural Marshall County, to Robert O. and Mary Miller Jones. On May 16, 1935, she married Noble L. Babcock, who died Dec. 30, 2002.
She was a lifetime resident of Bourbon and wintered in Fort Myers and Avon Park, Fla,. with her husband. She and her husband were co-owners of the Red Door Restaurant, Bourbon, during its existence. She was a member of Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary Post 424 and attended Bourbon First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting and painting pictures.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry (and spouse Thomas) Sell, Bourbon; six grandchildren: Susan Sauer, Plymouth; Deb Fulton and Tony and Terry Sell, all of Bourbon; Jeff Thompson, Claypool; and Cindy Sherrier, Florida; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bonnie Whittenberger, Nappanee, and Rosalie Fisher, New Haven. She was preceded in death by an infant son.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with the Revs. Mark A. Day and Mark Cottrill officiating. Burial will be in Etna Green Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
