Editor, Times-Union: After reading Steve Haines’ letter about pro-life Christians hating people who have abortions or have opposing ideas, I felt a clarification was in order.
The last week of September I found myself at two events I have not attended before. One was the Right To Life Banquet. The other was the kickoff for the 40 Days For Life. I was impressed at both events, that those in charge were very much concerned for those who have experienced abortions. I was also impressed that the purpose of the 40 Days For Life is not to protest but to pray that God would change us so we would protect life.
Father Frank Pavone said, “The difference between the pro-life and pro-choice movements is not that we care about the fetus and they care about the woman. Rather, they say you can sererate the two and we say you can’t. One cannot love the child without loving the mother, nor can one destroy the child without destroying the mother.”
