A Variety Of Entertainment Is Planned For Tomato Festival

PIERCETON – There is a variety of entertainment planned for the 19th annual Heirloom Tomato Festival in Pierceton this August.
The festival will be held in downtown Pierceton in Brower Park and The Old Train Depot on Saturday. Many groups of entertainers will be performing during the day.
On the main stage Bluegrass band Cumberland Gap from Muncie will perform from 10 to 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Acoustic Duo Mikey and Katie will perform from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 to 4 p.m., according to a provided news release.
Entertainers performing on Market Street-near the Old Train Depot will be Class Act Dance Troupe at 11 a.m., Belles & Beaus Square Dance Club will dance at 1 pm., with the Whitko High School Band playing patriotic songs beginning at 2:15 p.m.
Kate Carpenter will perform interactive children’s songs in the Pavilion in Brower Park. Show times will be 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Tag Art performers will be portraying historical figures George Washington and Uncle Sam throughout the day in Brower Park. Also performing throughout the day in the park will be harpist Anna Hagen.
There are also educational programs planned. Ethan More will be giving a presentation about “Exotic Tomatoes” at 10:45 a.m. and Daniel Kurdziel will give a presentation concerning “Unique Historical Bridges in Indiana” at 12:30 p.m. Both presentations will be in the speakers tent in Brower Park.
Local historian Joan Hostettler will lead a historical walking tour of downtown Pierceton. Meet at the information booth in Brower Park for this 11 a.m. tour.
