7 Injured In Wabash Co. CrashWABASH COUNTY – Seven people were hurt in a 5:30 p.m. Saturday crash at the intersection of CR 800N and 300E in Wabash County.

According to Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Tony Slocum, ISP officers, Wabash County Sheriff deputies and Manchester police officers responded to the two-vehicle collision Saturday.

Preliminary crash investigation revealed that Johnathan Eberly, 17, of Silver Lake, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban west on CR 800N, approaching the stop sign at CR 300E, when Eberly failed to come to a complete stop and drove into the path of a southbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The Silverado was driven by Scotty Wilcox, 57, of Urbana, and it hit the Suburban on the passenger side, causing the Suburban to roll once, coming to rest on its wheels.

Wilcox was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital with life-threatening injuries, but as of Tuesday afternoon was listed in stable condition, according to Slocum.

Eberly was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been treated and released.

Traceson Gearhart, 16, of rural North Manchester, was a passenger in the Suburban and partially ejected. He suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be revived at the crash scene by first responders. He was then taken to a Fort Wayne hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, according to Slocum.

Hannah Eberly, 15, of Silver Lake, also a passenger in the Suburban, was ejected during the crash and was treated and released from a Fort Wayne hospital.

Three additional passengers in the Suburban, Liam York, 16, North Manchester; Michael Ortiz, 15, Servia; and Lane Stetzel, 15, rural North Manchester, were all treated and released from the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, but police do not believe the use of alcohol or narcotics contributed to the crash.

ISP was assisted at the crash by the Chester Fire Department, Wabash Fire Department, Parkview EMS, Manchester Police Department and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.
