4 Hurt In 2-Vehicle Accident Saturday On U.S. 30PIERCETON - Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 5 p.m. Saturday on East U.S. 30, approximately 400 feet west of South CR 900E.
Elizabeth Goble, 36, the driver of a 2016 Kia Sedona, advised the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office that she was traveling west on U.S. 30. She could not recall the accident and advised she possibly fell asleep, according to the KCSO report.
The Sedona collided with a 2008 Pontiac GTO, driven by Derek Adkins, 23, approximately 400 feet west of South CR 900E, causing damage.
Elizabeth Goble was taken by ambulance to Fort Wayne for further medical treatment. She complained of pain to the knee and lower leg. The KCSO reports she was using a seatbelt.
A passenger in Elizabeth’s vehicle, identified as Kathleen Goble, 61, was the front passenger seat. Kathleen suffered minor bleeding to the face during the collision and was taken to Fort Wayne for further medical evaluation. The KCSO report states she was not wearing a seatbelt.
Adkins was traveling west on U.S. 30, attempting to slow down to make a left turn at an interchange, which was approximately 400 feet west of South CR 900E. Elizabeth Goble did not hear or see Adkins’ vehicle prior to the collision, the KCSO report states. Adkins’ vehicle sustained disabling damage from the collision.
Adkins suffered minor injuries to the head and chest area and was taken by family members to a hospital. Ciara Nichols, 25, a passenger in Adkins’ vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered minor bleeding to the lower arm and was taken by family members to a hospital for further medical evaluation.
The Kia Sedona was towed by Reichert’s, while the Pontiac GTO was towed by Crouse. Damage to all vehicles is estimated at $25,000 to $50,000.
