12-Year-Old Girl Dies In House Fire

NORTH MANCHESTER – A 12-year-old North Manchester girl has died after a midnight house fire.

According to a news release from North Manchester Fire Department, at midnight Tuesday the Wabash County Central Dispatch Center received a report of a structure fire at 1005 N. Market St., North Manchester.

Upon arrival, NMFD units found heavy fire involvement coming from a bedroom area on the northeast corner of the residence, and firefighters were advised there was a person still inside the home.

Firefighters and law enforcement officers found 12-year-old Alyvia Floor inside the northwest bedroom close to a window.

A firefighter pulled her out through the west window of the bedroom and immediately began medical aid. The child was unresponsive and CPR was performed. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

The fire was under control within 35 to 40 minutes from arrival on the scene, and fire units didn’t leave until about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire was believed to have started in the northeast bedroom, and the cause is still under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Chester Township Fire Department, Pleasant Township Fire Department, North Manchester Police Department, Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Parkview EMS, Indiana State Fire Investigator and the Wabash County Coroner.
