MIDDLEBURY – The Warsaw girls basketball team was so close Saturday.

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester Lady Squires will play for a girls basketball sectional championship tonight. Five-foot-6 senior Kennedy Fierstos made sure of it.

MISHAWAKA – The Grace College women’s basketball team completed a season sweep of rival Bethel, sinking the Pilots 79-66 on Saturday. The Lady Lancers (14-12, 8-6 Crossroads League) stretched their season-best winning streak to four games and continued to climb the league standings. Grace now sits in a three-way tie for fourth place with four games remaining in the regular season.

MISHAWAKA – Grace College’s men’s basketball team suffered its worst offensive output of the year in an 85-58 loss at No. 14 Bethel on Saturday. Grace shot 38 percent from the floor, 19 percent from the three-point line and 54 percent from the foul line.

MIDDLEBURY – The cold weather limited the Warsaw girls basketball team’s practice time this week, but it didn’t keep the Lady Tigers from showcasing stellar defense Friday.

NORTH MANCHESTER – Played three days after it was originally scheduled, Friday night’s Class 2A Sectional 37 first-round game was definitely worth the wait for the Manchester Lady Squires.

SYRACUSE – Wawasee senior Casey Schroeder scored a team-high 18 points, but the Lady Warriors lost 53-33 to Lakeland in a Class 3A 21 Sectional game Friday at West Noble.

AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings are looking to get back to the top.

NORTH MANCHESTER – To say the Manchester Lady Squires are taking some momentum into this week’s Class 2A Sectional 37, one that they will host, would be an understatement.

SYRACUSE – Sectional tournament time can be seen as a chance to leave the past behind. Wawasee’s girls basketball team will take that approach this year after an 11-game losing streak during the first half of the season left them with a less-than-stellar record.

BOURBON – After a regular season with more than its fair share of adversity, Triton’s Lady Trojan basketball team enters the Class 1A Oregon-Davis Sectional with another tough assignment.

SOUTH WHITLEY – The good news for the Whitko girls basketball team is it drew a first-round bye in this week's Class 2A Central Noble Sectional.

WINONA LAKE – Last season, Lakeland Christian Academy’s girls basketball team fell four points short of claiming its first sectional title, losing 41-38 to Lakewood Park in the title game.

The fourth time was a charm for the Warsaw Lady Tigers.

ELKHART – The Warsaw Tigers were strong in overtime Saturday.
