Among the annual goals for the Warsaw boys golf team is to win sectional and show up at the regional with a shot at advancing to state. While the Tigers finished third at sectional, it was good enough to advance to Thursday’s regional at Swan Lake Golf Club. So the Tigers took their shot and duplicated their third place finish to advance to the state finals next week.

Three Whitko softball players were named to the 1A-2A All-State team by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Saturday.

Wawasee senior Luke Griner finished fourth in the 800 at the IHSAA State Track and Field meets held Friday and Saturday at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex, on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington.

The postseason heightens drama, and the Warsaw boys golf sectional Friday at Rozella Ford didn’t lack for either the thrill of victory, or at least survival, or the agony of defeat. The host Tigers finished third in the sectional, grabbing the last team spot for Thursday’s Plymouth Regional. They edged Triton by two shots for the last spot.

The weather reflected the mood of Lady Tigers track and field fans and parents Tuesday as Mishawaka secured first place at the Warsaw Regional in a 77-point victory.
