John L. Deeds, 76, Warsaw, formerly of Muncie, passed away Sunday morning, April 2, 2017, at his residence.

Harrison Henry Shepherd, 23, formerly of North Manchester, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, in Miami County.   He was born Aug. 15, 1993, in Wabash, to Fred Shepherd and Diana Frantz Shepherd.

Hollie Mullins, 79, Claypool, passed away at 4:13 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, in her residence.

Cheryl Lynn Earnst, 57, of rural Sumner, Ill., died Friday, March 31, 2017, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

Phyllis Clemans, 60, Rochester, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2017, at her residence.

Neal M. Carlson, 91, Winona Lake, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, in his residence.

Anna J. "Jean" Watkins, 61, North Webster, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at her home.

A funeral service for John Replogle will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Milford Christian Church. Pastor Rick Brouillette will officiate, with burial following at Milford Cemetery.

Jeannette Louise Drawbaugh, Warsaw, passed away surrounded by family at 10:25 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, at the age of 78.

MILFORD – John Earl Replogle, 81, of Seminole, Fla., formerly of Milford, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Lexington Health and Rehab in St. Petersburg. John was born on Sept. 1, 1935, to Delbert Walter Replogle and Myrtle Hampton Replogle in Milford. He was raised in Milford and graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1954.

CLAYPOOL – Carolyn Sue Hartman, 78, of Claypool,  passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at her home. She was born on January 28, 1939, in Kosciusko County, to Everett and Frances Brown Warren. She attended Burket Public Schools and lived most of her life in Burket and Warsaw area before moving to Claypool five years ago. She was formerly employed as a nurse’s aide at Murphy Medical Center, Korth Furniture Factory, and Owens-Illinois / Kimball Glass, all in Warsaw.  She was a former member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Moose Lodge, all of Warsaw. She is survived by two sons, Jack “Bub” (Cookie) Hartman, Claypool, and Jimmy Hartman, Warsaw; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Everett Warren, Mentone. She was preceded in death by her parents and son,   Mickey. A private family gathering will be held. Paul Wendell Romanetz, 79, Warsaw, passed away on March 14, 2017, at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 8, 1938, to John and Anne Ochaba Romanetz in Chicago, Ill. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Marlen Romanetz; and a sister, Kathryn Sue Van Black. He served in the Illinois National Guard, as 1st lieutenant in the Marine Corps and was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster. He served as a reserve officer in the Elkhart Police Department and was a trainer and instructor for new officers. He worked at Ford Motor Co., Chicago; Paper Forms Company, Sturgis; and LaSalle Deitch, Elkhart, for 20 years as DP manager. He retired from Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, as maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed hunting trips out west with friends. His love of fishing with his family included trips to Lake of the Woods; Sioux Narrows, Canada; and Wolf River, Wisconsin. He joined his Coplen Construction crew with trips to Lake Erie. He is survived by his longtime companion, Judy Harvey; three sons: Mark (Chris) Romanetz, Bristol; Paul (Melinda) Romanetz, Niles, Mich.; and John (Kim) Romanetz, Danville; and a daughter, Laura Romanetz, Chicago. He also is survived by Judy's children, Pam Harvey and Doug (Lisa) Harvey, Warsaw; and a sister, Roberta Prince, Dallas, Texas; as well as 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  A celebration of Paul's life will take place at a later date. ***** Memorials to the American Cancer Society or online to www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html.

Rita Ann Roberts, 52, passed away at 2:17 p.m. March 25, 2017, at Kindred Hospital, Louisville, Ky. She was born Aug. 20, 1963, in Rochester, to James “Jim” Eugene and Delores Mae Clinger Roberts. She was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School and spent most of her lifetime in Kosciusko County. She worked in nursing at Warsaw Meadows (formerly Prairie View) for many years.

NAPPANEE — Vickie D. Estep, 43, Warsaw, formerly of Nappanee, died at 5:51 p.m. March 24, 2017, at her residence.   She was born July 26, 1973, in Elkhart, to Keevin C. and Gladie Stapleton Estep. She graduated from NorthWood High School and had worked at Choretime in Milford. 

On March 24, in the Year of Our Lord 2017, our mom, Dorothy Priser, at the age of 89, having received new orders from her faithful Savior, departed this earthly realm and joined herself to that waiting heavenly host of friends and family. She was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Richmond, to William and Helen Baker Katte and graduated from Richmond High School. She married Joseph C. Priser on March 7, 1943, in Brownwood, Texas. AKRON — Richard C. Hiers, 93, rural Akron, died at 6:04 p.m. March 24, 2017, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Miami County, to Elmer and Martha Beeson Hiers. On July 20, 1946, in Fort Wayne, he married Wanda D. Petterson, who passed on Sept. 27, 2011. He worked for the Shewman family in

Carolyn J. Pitt, 84, Warsaw, passed away at 4:30 a.m. March 25, 2017, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.  She was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Three Rivers, Mich., to Orson F. and Helen I. Geibe Cosner. She was united in marriage to Allan E. Pitt on July 17, 1953, in Three Rivers. 

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Dora Mae Davis Snider, 75, Mentone, passed away March 22, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 11, 1941, in Petroleum, W.Va., to HT and Opal Wagner Davis. She married Sam Snider on Aug. 9, 1959. 

WABASH — Graveside services for Zella "Mae" Edmonds, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. She died Feb. 10, 2017.  Arrangements are by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.  

Willie Dean Lafferty, 73, Warsaw, passed away March 26, 2017, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. He was born Oct. 28, 1943, in Edgar, Ky., to Albert and Maggie Burchett Lafferty. He married Linda Collins on Jan. 30, 1970, in Warsaw; they were married for 47 years. He was a member of the U.S. Army, serving as a  helicopter mechanic. He was stationed in Georgia. He was originally from Edgar before moving to Warsaw. He worked at Dalton Foundry as a tow motor driver for more than 40 years. He liked to tinker, repairing small engines and mowers; and enjoyed gardening, mostly vegetables. He enjoyed bird watching. Above all else, he was a loving grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Linda Lafferty, Warsaw; daughters, Missy Allen and Cheryl (Nathan) Ousley, both of Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Haley Allen, Markie Allen,, Tage Allen, Will Allen, Carter Allen, Brittany Ousley and Zach Ousley, all of Warsaw; and a brother, Darvin Lafferty, Warsaw. He was preceded by two brothers, Clinton Lafferty and Charles Lafferty; an infant sister, Freida Mae Lafferty; and his parents, Albert and Maggie Lafferty. Visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. service Tuesday at Living Hope Ministries, 595 E. 350N, Warsaw. Pastor Hedgel Perry will officiate.  Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery,  with military graveside honors conducted by American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126, both of Warsaw.
