James Edward Loser, 92, Leesburg, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in Leesburg. He was born on April 17, 1925, to James Clifford and Cecilla Blanche Hatton Loser in Culver. James was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He moved to Warsaw, after serving his country, to help his father and brother Jack with the Indiana Motor Bus Company. The business was moved to Fort Wayne in 1971 and it became Summit Coaches in the 1980s. After his retirement, he started a The Old Pro Shop in Clunette.
ELKHART — Zachary “Zach” Waddle, 36, Mentone, passed away on April 7, 2017, in Elkhart. Zach was born Sept. 29, 1980, to Randy Waddle and Deborah Breske in Warsaw. On Dec. 3, 2016, he was wed to Erin McCarthy. In addition to his wife and mother, Zach is survived by his children, Sydney and Jacob, and soon to join them, EmmaJane Waddle, due to arrive into this world in June; sister, Melanie Ladwig, Leesburg; brothers: Jason (Amanda) Waddle, Warsaw; Dan (Christy) Breske, Milford; and Jake Waddle, Silver Lake; and his great-aunt, Dorothy (George) Deringer, Edwardsburg, Mich. Zach was preceded in death by his father. Zach belonged to the Local 413 Carpenters Union for the last four years. He was very family-oriented, chivalrous, kind-hearted and helped anyone in need. Zach was also a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved the game of baseball with a passion. There will be a celebration of life service for Zach at Warsaw Family Worship, 1250 Husky Trail, Warsaw, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Pastor William Whittaker will officiate. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with his arrangements.
John Alan Groat, 67, Warsaw, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, in his Warsaw home. He was born July 6, 1949, in Warsaw, to John R. and Ethel L. Anderson Groat. He married Joyce E. Easterday on June 26, 1971, in Faith Baptist Church, Columbia City. He was a 1967 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and a lifetime Warsaw resident. He was a machinist at DePuy for over 30 years, having recently retired. He was a former member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church and enjoyed congregational singing at church; he especially enjoyed traditional Christian hymns. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Groat, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Ethel (Rod) Massing, Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, Kevin Massing, Columbus, Ohio, and Donavin Massing, at home; and a brother, Robert Groat, Richland, Mo. He was preceded by his parents, John R. and Ethel Groat; stepmom, Nellie Groat; and two sisters, Alma Ragan and Eva Engle. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, with calling one hour prior, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. He was born June 8, 1926, in Liberty Mills to Garrett Lee and Truth Pauline Ogden Enyeart. On March 2, 1951, he married Carolyn Slack, who died Dec. 13, 2005. Dale P. Zimmerman, 54, Warsaw, passed away at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. On Aug. 13, 1962, he was born in Warsaw to Larry and Virginia Milam Zimmerman. He was united in marriage to Nancy Wolfgram on Oct. 22, 1982, in Warsaw; she survives. Dale was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, where he graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1980. He worked as a team leader for System 1 Facility Services, Osceola. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Zimmerman, Warsaw; three children: Joshua (Toni) Zimmerman, Warsaw; Jessica (Jason) Myers, Leesburg; and Jennifer Zimmerman, Warsaw; father, Larry Zimmerman, Orlando, Fla.; brother, Edson Zimmerman, Orlando; two sisters, Deborah (Arthur) Clark, Warsaw, and Katrine (Jerry) Tuggle, Elkhart; and seven grandchildren. His family moved to Warsaw when he was a teen. Local survivors include a sister, Thelma (Alden) Clark, Leesburg; and a brother, Howard Smith, Warsaw. She was born on Feb. 28, 1926, in Muncie, to Frank O. and Dorothy M. Goodwin Leyendecker. On May 20, 1951, in Muncie, she married Robert Glen “Bob” Baker, who died in January 1981. Glen F. Kreft, 76, Tippecanoe, entered heaven to meet his Savior on March 30, 2017. He was born June 5, 1940, to William and Bessie Kreft. In 1962, he married Glenda Hartman, who survives. They have three sons: Jeff Kreft, Rochester; Jerry Kreft (wife Shari), Elkhart; and Jay Kreft (wife Katy), Shawnee, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Wayne, Richard, Paul, Bobby, David and Tim Kreft, and sister Barbara Gaines. He was preceded by his father, William; mother, Bessie; brothers, Donnie, Billie and Jerry VanDyke; and sister Charlene Camper.
