AKRON — Anna R. Laughlin, 26, South Bend, formerly of Nappanee, died unexpectedly at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born Dec. 26, 1990, in Kosciusko County, to Randall and Tammy Montague Laughlin. She was a graduate of NorthWood High School.  Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Rex Laughlin officiating. Henry Wallen, 103, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. Henry was born Nov. 9, 1913, in Floyd County, Ky., to William Jasper and Nebraska Susann Sizemore Wallen. On July 17, 1940, Henry was married to Bessie Hall in Bull Creek, Ky. Together they would share 73 years until her passing on Dec. 18, 2013.

Frederick E. “Fred” Hummitch, 63, Warsaw, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. On July 13, 1953, he was born in Detroit, Mich., to Ernest and Laura Davis Hummitch. He was united in marriage to Karen Anglin on June 30, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives.

Mary Lou Hudson Goans, 72, Claypool, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017.    Mary Lou was a graduate of Portland High School and received her cosmetology license and then became a master cosmetologist and beauty culturist and had her own beauty salon for many years. She went to Indiana University South Bend and got an associate degree in accounting. She worked at United Technologies Automotive. She also attended Ivy Tech in Warsaw, where she earned certificates in statistical process control and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. She ended her working career as a cost analysis accountant at Lear Corp.  On Aug. 11, 1995, she married Greg Goans. He survives

ROYAL CENTER — Ronald C. Rees, 81, Logansport, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.  Born May 4, 1936, in Deal, England, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Sarah Thomas Chapman and his adopted parents, Morgan and Gwenllian Davies Rees. On Aug. 6, 1996, he married Kay “Kasie” Cohagan. 

Kenneth James Gilliland, 76, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017, in his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1940, in Indianapolis, to Perry and Dorothy Gilliland. His survivors include a brother, Tracy R. Gilliland, Warsaw. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later time.  *****
