- Anorexia Nervosa - Dangerous Intersection - Tiger Coaches - Candleria - Teen Indoctrination - Prosecutor Questions - Christmas Concert - Holiday Parade Anorexia Nervosa Editor, Times-Union: A couple of nights ago I watched a special on the life of Karen Carpenter. She was a pop star that died at the age of 32 of anorexia nervosa. I had this condition myself eight years ago.It is more than just a condition. It is a bondage of your mind that manifests itself in your body.
Something happened today that I will never forget. I came very, very close to death. But I am still alive, by God’s grace, and I am deeply grateful for His miraculous work on my behalf. I am also very grateful that so many of my friends, knowing that I am presently in a dangerous position, have been praying for me.

- DARE Program - Dedicated Leaders - Hampton Endorsed - New License Plates DARE Program Editor, Times-Union: This evening I attended the DARE graduation program at Leesburg School, of which my grandson was a participant. It was my first experience to observe this wonderful program. I would like to commend Officer Polston for the super job he does.He is such a caring, loving person. The love and emotion he shares with these children is so heartwarming. It's so comforting to know that this wonderful Christian man is there for the children, now and later on, if they need him. Keep up the great work Officer Polston, you are very special.

- Cable Choices - Zoning - Harley Damaged Cable Choices Editor, Times-Union: Too bad our cable company doesn't carry Fox Sports. There are many Cubs fans around the area who would enjoy seeing them more.WGN only carries a few of the games since Fox Sports took over. There are a lot of stations that are duplicated which we could do without.Merle and I took several bus loads to Chicago every summer to see the Cubs play. Most of those people aren't able to go anymore. If anyone else is interested in having Fox Sports, call Insight; it may help, who knows.

- Be Pet Responsible Be Pet Responsible Editor, Times-Union: I am writing this letter to say what a shame it is to have people dumping cats and dogs all over the countryside. We have lived where we do for six months now and in that time a puppy and three small kittens have been basically placed on our front porch.People, just because you see children may live here or it might look like a good place to dump some poor baby animals, it doesn't mean it is a good spot.If you don't want an animal, then fix what is causing so many puppies and kittens being born.If you can't afford it, then you have no business having an animal.Do the responsible thing.Try finding a home for them. We can't keep these pets and it crushes my children. It breaks my heart to see them cry over these tiny babies.Take responsibility and do the right thing.

- Endorsing Sauders - Endorsing Folk Endorsing Sauders Editor, Times-Union: For the Warsaw School Board election coming on Nov.2, we would like to endorse Charles E."Chuck" Sauders for the seat representing District 4. Sauders is the only candidate running for the board with a lifetime of experience in the public schools. He recently retired from 36 years in the public schools - two years as a principal and, before that, 34 years teaching in a neighboring school system where he was on negotiation committees as well as winning an Outstanding Educator Award and earning a spot in Who's Who Among American Educators. He knows how education works and how it should work.(He still teaches part-time for Grace College and for Ball State University.) Both of his daughters graduated from Warsaw Community High School.

- Resented Implications - Energy Camp Resented Implications Editor, Times-Union: Regarding David Sawesky's letter July 8: Let's start at the beginning.Mr.Sawesky writes "...but what you wrote you do not know him."I'm not sure if that was just a grammatical mistake, but I'm going to assume that what Mr.Sawesky meant was, well, I don't know.I guess he'll fill me in later with his point. As far as "waking a sleeping tiger," I would have to disagree.Considering Mr.Kitson has written extensively on the subject - one might ever go so far as to say he has a firearm fixation - at least since the mid-1990s, there's really no "waking" going on here.I could go with a "prodding the elephant" metaphor, but even that's stretching it.I digress.

- Tattoo Parlor - Mad TV - Mental Illness - Dalton - Offensive Sign - Near-Death Experiences - Sports Photos Tattoo Parlor Editor, Times-Union: I am a local college student, and I was dismayed to read recently in the Times-Union that the woman who wishes to open a business in the downtown area of Warsaw, namely a tattoo and piercing parlor, with perhaps apartments and an art gallery, was denied a go-ahead, and her idea voted down. I personally do not intend to ever have a tattoo or a piercing, simply because that's not my style. However, I'm sure someone else would love to get one, and I have no problems with that. This, however, is only a small point I wished to make, for the record.
