Although fewer people attended than either of the previous two years, the 1,800 persons there brought encouragement to the groups appearing on stage and an open mindedness to hear the spiritual challenge and consider the direction of their lives.Over 35 persons dedicated their lives to Christ and follow-up in local churches is planned.

"This summer, and especially over the past couple of weeks we've had a number of young children left unattended in cars," said Peggy Shively, director of the Kosciusko County Division of Family and Children, which manages child protective services. The most common reasons, according to Shively, that parents give for leaving their children unattended in a vehicle include not wanting to wake up a sleeping toddler or the difficulty of maneuvering multiple children from a car, through a parking lot and into a store.
Editor, Times-Union:When I rode my bike to the fairgrounds on the 16th of June, I was pleased to note that Smith Street was no longer under construction, and on the way back, I was thrilled to realize that I no longer had to pick my way to avoid pureeing my newly purchased tomatoes. It still feels odd not to see bumps where they used to be.
Editor, Times-Union:Last month, the House passed a bill (H.R. 3016) that included a 50 percent cut in the monthly Basic Allowance for Housing allowance provided to children who will have their parent's earned Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit transferred to them.

Brenda passed away April 16, 2002, from complications caused by kidney failure. Brenda would have been 39 years old on Aug.28 of this year.From the age of 15 until her death, she struggled with kidney problems.
