Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:This is in response to Dave Beall's comments in the Times-Union article on 11/10 regarding the Warsaw Airport expansion.

Editor, Times-Union:I know I'm getting much older because there are more things I simply don't understand.

Editor, Times-Union:As a Leesburg resident and former downtown Leesburg small business owner, I'm sure I'll feel the immediate negative effect of any of our small businesses leaving town or just going out of business all together.

Editor, Times-Union:Retha Hicks is a proven 18-year Winona Lake leader.

Editor, Times-Union:This Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the 40-day period before Easter, when many Christians abstain from animal foods in remembrance of Jesus’s 40 days of fasting in the desert before launching his ministry.

Editor, Times-Union:Thank you for your regards, Mr. Steve Jones. I will have you know I am a single parent and don't think I've done a real bad job.

Editor, Times-Union:I watched president Obama the other morning say how bad it was that the companies that received bailout money gave bonuses in the amount of around $18 billion.

Editor, Times-Union:Matthew McHenry’s “Never Legalize Pot 2” is just a copy of the first letter that appeared in the March 23 edition of the Times-Union, which I find curiously strange, either by error or intent.

- Red Light Running - Thanks For Gift - Wagon Wheel Kudos Red Light Running Editor, Times-Union: Although many drivers who run red lights do not intend to injure or kill others, their actions are resulting in terrible devastation each year.Too many U.S.drivers just don't seem to get it - that by running a red light they are breaking the law and may well injure or kill someone because of their dangerous behavior. In fact, U.S.drivers annually are responsible for approximately 219,000 intersection crashes, 181,000 injuries and over 1,100 deaths due to running red lights.Studies show that although 98.5 percent of drivers believe red light running is dangerous, 58.5 percent of those same drivers admit to running them. The main reason given - simply in a hurry.

Editor, Times-Union: Greetings from Silver Lake, and a big thank you for publishing Monica Boyers’ letter in the paper last week.

- Origins Of The Bible - Question Leaders Origins Of The Bible Editor, Times-Union: The Old Testament is fulfilled in Christ and the New Testament proceeds from Christ through His very own one, holy, Catholic and apostolic church. Therefore, Ms.Clemmer is correct, for without Christ the Bible is a meaningless human endeavor.Mr.Hite's quotations do not prove his point; they prove hers. Mr.Hite's other attacks on the church and Ms.Clemmer are equally unfounded.William Tyndale was a Catholic, a Franciscan priest who was put to death by Henry VIII, and this occurred after Henry had made himself the head of his own brand new church. These facts about Tyndale were conveniently omitted in Foxes Book of Martyrs.

Editor, Times-Union:God is love. Love does no harm to his neighbor. Love is gentle, kind, longsuffering, not selfish, boastful, proud or arrogant.

Editor, Times-Union:Last week's flood came hard and fast.

Editor, Times-Union:Death is no stranger to those of us who survive for nearly eight decades.

- Warsaw Schools - WCHS Basketball Warsaw Schools Editor, Times-Union: It is amazing how many times this past week I have read in different newspapers and heard on the radio the amount of money …

Editor, Times-Union:About eight in 10 black children in Indiana are born to unwed parents - a start to life that sets them up for problems during adolescence and beyond, according to an Indiana Black Expo report.

- No Child Left Behind - News Views Was Wrong - AWL Says Thanks No Child Left Behind Editor, Times-Union: We are sorry! We let happen what could and should not happen! My generation is the eldest and, supposedly, the wisest in the U.S.A.Tom Brokaw calls us the Great Generation in his book.I have my doubts.

Editor, Times-Union:Totally irresponsible and inaccurate article about Medicare Advantage plans in the Times-Union last Friday. There are about 12 million people who have Advantage plans in the USA. I personally have 400 seniors on Advantage plans because of their choice to have one, most have been on such a plan through me for five to eight years. It stands to reason that if people were dissatisfied with such plans, they would not stay enrolled in them.

Editor, Times-Union: I’m a fifth grade student at Harrison Elementary School. When I walk through the halls, I see kids getting picked on.  This also happens at other schools and it has a negative affect on our community.  I think kids should not bully other kids.  I am positive that something needs to be changed.

Editor, Times-Union:On Father's Day morning, I received a note on my door that read, "Miss Daisy is no longer with us."

Editor, Times-Union:I agree with Mr. Carter's comments in his 11/9 letter to the editor.

Editor, Times-Union:I don't know if it's a good thing for you to go on vacation and miss a New Views or not after reading this morning's (Saturday) News Views.

Editor, Times-Union:It amazes me that some of the writers to the Times-Union can't help but keep harping on the prior administration and Iraq.

Editor, Times-Union:Don't forget this Saturday, May 1, the One Nation BACK to God Seminar will be held at the Rodeheaver Auditorium in Winona Lake.
