Squatters Question

Editor, Times-Union:
This letter is not for the editor of the Times-Union, but for law enforcement and/or lawyers. My question is about the acts of squatters.
In other states, the squatters have taken advantage of the owners. The squatters have sold items from the homes through eBay. Owners have been arrested and have been killed.
What can the owners do legally to get these people out of your property?
