Stillwater Hospice, a 136-year-old locally based nonprofit hospice, palliative and grief support agency, announced they received a platinum level SAGECare credential. This credential is a testament to Stillwater Hospice's unwavering commitment to providing an inclusive and affirming environment for LGBTQ+ adults, according to the release from Stillwater.
Stillwater Hospice is the only hospice agency in Indiana to receive this credential.
SAGECare awarded Stillwater Hospice the credential after an assessment of policies, practices and staff training to create an inclusive and welcoming space for all patients and loved ones, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
"We are thrilled to partner with SAGECare in our shared mission to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ adults," said Leslie Friedel, Stillwater Hospice CEO. "At Stillwater Hospice, we believe in fostering a community where everyone feels respected, valued and celebrated for who they are. This credential reaffirms our dedication to providing an inclusive environment that prioritizes the well-being of all patients."
The SAGECare credential process evaluates agencies based on various criteria, including non-discrimination policies, staff training on LGBTQ+ cultural competency, community engagement, and support services. By meeting and exceeding these standards, Stillwater Hospice has demonstrated its commitment to promoting a diverse and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ adults.
