Thursday Bridge Club Met

Thursday Bridge Club met at Maria’s Restaurant.

Winners were Tom Anderson, Donn Baird, Sondra Dicken, Linda Baird and Mimi Geringer.



Bridge Was Played At SPEC

NORTH WEBSTER – Bridge was played at SPEC at the North Webster Community Center.

On Tuesday, Shirley Gardner came in first and   Ronnie Pierog came in second.

On Thursday, Mike Wyrick came in first and  Mary Prescott came in second.



Tuesday Bridge Group Met

The once-a-month Tuesday Bridge Group met at Maria's on Tuesday.

The winners were Virginia Horn and Pauline Holderman.



K. County Retired Teachers Met

The first meeting of the Kosciusko County Retired Teachers of 2023 met Tuesday at Miller’s Senior Living Center for food, fellowship and program. Jill Beehler welcomed the attendees and new member Gene Butts.

Jeff Wright, benefits representative from AMBA, shared information on a new program Ameritus Flex Mark Fixed Index Annuity. For further information, he offered a 30-minute Zoom call. He then had a random drawing for a $25 gift certificate, which was won by Richard Rosebrugh.

After lunch, a short business meeting was held.

Door prizes were won by Butts, Alice Schilling and Rita Golding.

The next meeting will be July 11 at 10:15 a.m. for a gathering with a light breakfast at 10:30 a.m.

All retired teachers who taught in Kosciusko County or are now living in Kosciusko County are welcome. The group meets four times a year in May, July, September and October on the second Tuesday of those months. As a nonprofit, the group was established in 1972 with goals of continued lifelong learning, volunteering in communities and connecting through social interactions.

Winona Literary Club Met

WINONA LAKE – The Winona Literary Club met Wednesday. The club meets at the Grace Village Robin Hood Community Center in Winona Lake at 1:30 p.m.

Meetings are scheduled six times in the fall and six times in the spring. Winona Lake Literary Club has been a local club since 1903. Speakers, book reviews and music are interspersed throughout the year. A short business meeting and refreshments are included.

Ladies from the community are welcome to attend. RSVP if you are interested.

On Wednesday, the group had its annual luncheon catered by Dragonfly Custom Catering. Norma Roose, who is 99 years old, shared a brief sketch of her life in a section we call “Getting to Know You.”

The group had a brief business meeting. Pat Redpath shared next year’s theme “Getting to Know You.”

Marcia Plastow, a local artist, was the guest soloist and pianist, playing hymns and worship songs.

The hostesses were Jean Cahill, Nancy Dougan and Carol Volkers.

The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday of the third week of September.

Nelson’s Big Night Propels Warsaw To NLC Championship
Warsaw baseball’s Monday night home game against Concord was a momentous one for a number of reasons. First, it was Senior Night, and four seniors were honored before the game for their careers at Warsaw. FORT WAYNE – Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne and Warsaw is joining the statewide system in offering free classes to students in grades 9 through 12 this summer. These courses may be used for exploration and earning an Ivy Tech certification or degree.
