Phil and Monica Braman of Warsaw will celebrate their 50th anniversary Saturday.

They were married July 24, 1971, at St. Joseph Catholic Church,  Kentland.  Monica's uncle, Rev. Monsignor Arthur A. Sego, officiated.

Phil and Monica met in 4-H at a State Junior Leader Conference.

Both graduated from Purdue University.

Phil retired after 36 years with USDA, having served with the Farm Service Agency and Rural Development. Phil was active in several Kiwanis clubs, a Kiwanis International Hixon Fellow and a Legion of Honor member.   

Monica retired from Open Air Garden Center after more than 20 years. She has worked with children as a day care provider, a 4-H leader (41 years) and as a paraprofessional for Warsaw Community Schools for 19-1/2 years.

They have been members of Sacred Heart Church for 44 years. Both served as ushers.

They have two sons: Christopher (Krista), of Churubusco; and Thomas, of Warsaw.
