Area Students Graduate Grace College

WINONA LAKE - Grace College held its commencement ceremonies May 8 at the Orthopaedic Capital Center on the Grace campus.

Amy Sue Abbitt, daughter of Tom and Cathy Abbitt, Winona Lake, graduated with a bachelor's degree in special education. She was awarded a 2010 NAIA Champion of Character Award by the coaching staff of Grace for outstanding characteristics in academic achievement, campus leadership, community leadership, and the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character initiative: respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.

Abbitt was also named to the spring 2010 Dean's List. To be eligible for the honor, students must be enrolled full-time and have a grade point average of 3.94 or greater for any given semester and a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or greater.

Amanda Faith Justiniano Apeland, daughter of Ralph and Joan Justiniano, Tokyo, Japan, graduated as a double-major, with bachelor's degrees in both counseling and sociology. She was selected as an outstanding student and included in the 2011 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Apeland was also named to the spring 2010 Dean's List.

Elisabeth Kay Blaker, daughter of Art and Lisa Blaker, Kiev, Ukraine, graduated as a double major with bachelor's degrees in both management of information systems and business administration.

Bryan David Brumbaugh, son of Dave and Linda Brumbaugh, Winona Lake, graduated with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education.

Jonathan Hart Damon, son of Jonathan and Kelly Damon, Kinzers, Pa., graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biblical studies.

Emily Ann Davis, daughter of Randy and Laurie Owen, Winona Lake, graduated as a double major with bachelor's degrees in both elementary education and special education. Davis was also named to the spring 2010 Dean's List.

Jessica Erin Delp, granddaughter of David and Carole Delp, Winona Lake, graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She was also named to the spring 2010 Dean's List.

Sarah Michelle Fredericks, daughter of Vernon and Laurie Fredericks, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in international languages.

Star Nicole Gonzalez Goble, daughter of Arthur and Tammy Gonzalez, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Jessica Andrea Hatfield, daughter of Eric and Linda Hatfield, Columbia City, graduated as a double major with bachelor's degrees in both criminal justice and psychology.

Matthew Winfield Hawley, son of Mark and Janet Hawley, Akron, graduated with a bachelor's degree in graphic design.

David Jeffrey Kantenwein, son of Cindy Kantenwein, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics education.

Anna Marie Klatt, daughter of Philip and Martha Klatt, Warsaw, graduated as a double major with bachelor's degrees in both history and information systems.

As a senior with a GPA in the upper 10 percent of the 2010 graduating class, Klatt was a member of the Grace College chapter of Alpha Chi, a national honor society, as well as being selected as an outstanding student included in the 2011 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She was the recipient of the History Award for 2010 as the most outstanding senior history major, and was also named to the spring 2010 Dean's List.

Charles David Lee, son of David and Marcia Lee, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology.

Christi Lynn Mann, daughter of Walter Mann, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Amy Mann, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications. She was also awarded the Drama Talent Award for 2010, having evidenced skill in the theatre arts and having made a significant contribution to the theater program at Grace College.

John Michael Miller, son of Steve and Lori Miller, Winona Lake, graduated as a triple major with bachelor's degrees in business administration, marketing and graphic design.

Jennifer Kristine Burrell Porter, daughter of Steve and LeAnn Burrell, Fargo, N.D., graduated as a double major with bachelor's degrees in both business administration and business marketing.

Jennifer Lynn Sherman, daughter of Charles and Elma Sherman, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Elizabeth Christine Sisson, daughter of Barry and Cynthia Sisson, Warsaw, graduated as a double major with bachelor's degrees in both accounting and business administration.

Matthew Scott Sitts, son of Ricky Sitts and Brenda Railsback, both of Mentone, graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education.

Kelly Marie Smoker, daughter of Roger and Jane Smoker, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Michael Aaron Wienhorst, son of Will Wienhorst, Seymour, and Lauren Jensen, Franklin, graduated as a double major with bachelor's degrees in both finance and business administration.

Ryan Jonathan Wroughton, son of Rich and Cindy Wroughton, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in youth ministry studies.

The following students also participated in the commencement ceremony, having completed their course work in December 2009:

Allison Marie Shepherd Alderfer, daughter of Darrell and Jennifer Shepherd, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Angela Marie Christy, daughter of Ron and Wendy Christy, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Catherine Grace Cooke graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Carus William Shaffer, son of Roger and Teresa Shaffer, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education (all-grade, all-performance areas).

Additionally, the first cohorts of the Grace Opportunities for Adult Learners program graduated in May. These graduates include the following:

- Peggy Jean Essick, originally of Seymour, Iowa.
