Editor, Times-Union: Rebecca Kubacki: “The best people to decide what is good for our children are our parents and teachers right here in our district- not bureaucrats in Indianapolis.” But, she votes for Common Core, the federal takeover of our education. District 22 deserves better. I think it’s time for a pink slip for Rebecca on May 6, 2014. Teresa Martin Silver Lake, via email

I have lived in many areas through my life, from Florida to Texas. from Michigan to Indiana. I must say that I have never been anywhere with a county road crew that is this inept and useless. I have heard, listening to the scanner, all the time that the road crew leaves at 3pm under the order of their supervisor. I heard " ...Everyone is to head home early and we will hit it again in the morning." I wish the State Troopers, County Sheriff and City Officers could take a break and go home. I bet they do too. However the great people we count on,need clear roads to provide aid to those who need it. That road crew is what it is about. Not doing your job while it is blizzard conditions is unacceptable. Not sure if you are aware, but the pathways you see with cars sliding around, those are roads. Do your job and clear them. "Well we have to save money on salt and fuel." We all pay taxes for your gas and salt. Use it, that is what it's for. I know this interrupts your two hour coffee meeting at the nearest gas station, but the people need safety and not your caffeine fix sated. And please do not bother with a rebuttal. There are no excuses for your lack of concern. Do your job. That's what we pay you for.
