Cromwell Fire Believed To Be Meth Related

Daniel Riordan
Times-Union Staff Writer

CROMWELL - A house fire allegedly caused from the production of methamphetamine is still under investigation.

The Syracuse Fire Department and the Kosciusko County Drug Task force are investigating a fire at 11207 N. Humpty Dumpty Drive, Cromwell, at 2:03 p.m. Sunday.

Police said it was determined the fire started when someone lit a cigarette and ignited meth fumes, which caused a fire that destroyed a large part of the residence.

Scott Farmer, 29, was at the residence at the time of the fire, but went to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of burns from the fire. He was treated and released.

According to police, the home is believed to be owned by a Jimmy Myers, age not available, who was not present at the time of the fire.

Joe Evans, 24, and Cody Ramseyer, 22, both residents of the home, according to police, were present but weren't believed to have suffered any injuries.

The drug task force forwarded information to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office for possible drug-related charges.

The Syracuse, Cromwell and North Webster fire departments all assisted at the scene.
