Local Bands To Hold Benefit Concert For Troops
NORTH WEBSTER - Four local bands are planning a concert to raise funds for troops in Iraq.
The concert, "Three Bands Three Bucks," will be held Aug. 18 at the North Webster Community Center from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. This is the first year for the concert.
Aaron McKinley, drummer with Warsaw rock band Unfinished Business, came up with the idea for the concert. He is a 2003 graduate of Warsaw Community High School.
Indie Rock band North Webster 30 Ft. Ahead will be the opening band for the event and perform at 4:30 p.m.
Bands also performing include North Webster rock band Civilian Street at 5:30 p.m.; Warsaw blues band Summertime Blues at 6:30 p.m.; and Unfinished Business at 7:30 p.m.
There is a $3 cover charge to attend the event. Proceeds will go toward supporting troops in Iraq. Care packages, international phone cards and neck ice packs to keep troops' cool will be purchased with the proceeds.
"The concert is a great way to raise funds for troops in Iraq and showcase local bands," McKinley said.
McKinley's brother-in-law, Stephan "Tad" Powless, formerly of Frankton, fought in Iraq from December 2005 to November 2006. His brother-in-law now lives in Fort Hood, Texas.
