Connie Rufenbarger received the Pete Thorn Achievement Award from Warsaw Rotary Club president Randy Stouder June 26. Rufenbarger was recognized for raising public awareness of breast cancer on local, state and national levels. She also was cited for her efforts to help raise money for breast cancer research, most recently through the sales of the "Just Peachy" cookbook.

Leesburg Chapter 287 Order of Eastern Star presented a 50-year gold pin to Mrs. Hugh McCann recently at her home in Leesburg, by Mrs. Condict Smith, past grand matron, Warsaw. McCann served as worthy matron in 1946 and also is a member of the Past Matron's Club.

LOS ANGELES - Three native Hoosiers, all collegians, have won berths on Uncle Sam's Olympic track and field team.
Among them were Greg Bell, of Indiana University and Terre Haute, tied for first place in the broad jump with a leap of 25 feet, 8-1/2 inches; and Max Truex, of Southern California and Warsaw, won the 10,000 meter run and finished third in the 5,000 meters.

Mrs. Harry Hodges was hostess to her bridge club at the Virginia Tea room. Three tables of bridge were played with Doris Arnold winning high score prize and Etta Anderson, second.
