The Warsaw Missionary Church Youth Group raised 512 food items to give to Combined Community Services.
This was a part of a national effort called “Souper Bowl of Caring” focused around Super Bowl Sunday. This effort began in 1990 when a pastor prayed, “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat.”
The Warsaw Missionary Church Youth Group set a goal of raising 500 items this year. They exceeded that goal with the help of the congregation of the Warsaw Missionary Church. It took two shopping carts borrowed from Walmart to contain all of the food that was donated.
Stephen Possell, Combined Community Services executive director, was on hand to receive the items from the youth group.
