Malfunctioning windshield wipers were to blame for a two-vehicle collision on Ind. 15 this morning.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department crash report, deputies responded to the collision on Ind. 15, just south of CR 350S around 8 a.m. today. A vehicle driven by Mason A. Hauff, 16, Silver Lake, was traveling northbound on Ind. 15, following a garbage truck driven by Jeffery A. McGuire, 40, of Warsaw.
Hauff told officers his windshield wipers were not working properly and it was difficult to see due to the rainy weather conditions. As McGuire slowed his garbage truck to make a stop, Hauff rear-ended him.
Hauff’s airbag deployed and he was not ejected or trapped and no serious injuries were reported. He was evaluated at the scene by EMS and declined medical treatment.
Damage was estimated between $5,000 to $10,000.
