According to Winona Lake Fire Chief Mitch Titus, while relocating utilities on the corner of 12th and West Canal streets in Winona Lake Thursday around 11 a.m., NIPSCO struck its own gas lines, causing a leak. Approximately 30 homes were evacuated, though Titus said the residents were able to return to their homes around 2:30 p.m. Warsaw/Wayne Township Fire Territory assisted with evacuations.
