SYRACUSE – A 12-year-old Syracuse boy was found dead inside his residence Saturday.
According to a press release issued by the Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse EMS and police were dispatched Saturday at 3:47 p.m. to 202 W. Washington St., Syracuse, on a report of a 12-year-old boy not breathing. Upon arrival, it was determined that the boy, Skyler Spore, was dead.
The Syracuse Police Department, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, Department of Child Services and the Kosciusko Major Crimes Task Force are conducting an investigation into the death.
The boy’s parents, Darrick Spore and Candy Chamness, along with a sibling, were present in the home at the time of the death.
There were also two gas-powered generators running inside the home when the boy died and it is unknown whether those played a role in his death.
The investigation is continuing and an autopsy will be conducted at the Northeast Forensic Center in Fort Wayne.
