Editor, Times-Union:
Recently, Clase DeGraff wrote an editorial about voting Democratic.
I’d like to address just a few of his dozen points expressed. He states that he can now marry whatever I want and may marry his Labrador. You are misinformed about the recent Supreme Court ruling and should check your source of information. I’m also sorry to have to break the news to you that there are laws against bestiality in many states.
DeGraff also states that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in 10 years if I don’t start driving a Prius. I can only assume the people referenced are scientists. Unfortunately the polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. This is a fact and has been verified by aerial documentation and periodic measurement of the ice sheaths around the world.
Also, remember big tobacco telling everyone how healthy it was to smoke. Doctors were even used in advertisements a long time ago. Big Oil uses the same tactics. Follow the money and you will find and army of lobbyists, large political contributions and use of junk science to reinforce the idea that carbon pollution is harmless.
Your last point that Democrats have their heads so firmly misplaced toward the south end the body; it’s unlikely that they’ll ever have another point of view. No comment.
