Editor, Times-Union:
Our Congressman for the Indiana 3rd district, Marlin Stutzman, just had the “Worst Week in Washington” as reported by columnist Chris Cillizza. That is an understatement.
Representative Stutzman stated, “We’re not going to be disrespected.” He went on to say, “We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.” This shows his complete lack of leadership, compassion and ability to govern and lays bare the political gamesmanship behind this entire mess and gridlock in Washington.
Meanwhile the government is shut down, Meals on Wheels and Head Start programs are cutting back due to funding shortfalls. Representative Stutzman, however, continues to collect his paycheck while constituents that are most in need suffer because of his reckless political action.
It’s time to put an end to politicians that would rather “blow up” the government than govern and find solutions for our country. We’re all Americans and deserve responsible politicians that work together for a better country rather than divide and pit one against another. We can only hope that voters remember this and choose wisely next election.
