Editor, Times-Union:
Many of the volunteers at the Senior Center have decided not to volunteer anymore and there are some that wish to continue their service.
The volunteers who wish to discontinue their service is mainly do to the fact that our telephone was also take away from us.
The center consists of seniors and many elderly people who have heart problems and other health issues. A phone is very important to the volunteers which we were told if there was an emergency we should use someones’ cell phone or run down the hall and have someone from the office call 911.
If a person is having a heart attack, the volunteer doesn’t have time to see who has a cell phone they can borrow or run down to the office.
Every second counts.
We don’t have seconds to waste running around.
